Angel Revisited – SAVE Walking Tour

01 June 2024

11:00 -13:00

Join SAVE and Alec Forshaw, former Head of Design and Conservation at Islington on a guided walking tour exploring Islington's vibrant streets, focusing on the transformative projects shaping the area around Angel.

Learn about the evolution of several sites including the revitalised landscapes of the former Anderson's Yard, the historical grounds of the former Royal Free Hospital, the Business Design Centre (former Royal Agricultural Hall) and the bustling precinct of the former Post Office site off Upper Street. Gain a deeper understanding of the architectural endeavours revitalising these spaces, as we discuss their integration with the surrounding community and their impact on the urban fabric of Islington.

Meet: outside Angel Underground for a prompt start at 11am

Alec Forshaw, a leading expert in London’s architectural heritage - a writer, planner, historian. Alec worked for over 30 years at Islington Council where he was Head of Conservation and Design. He was also a key witness for SAVE at the Marks and Spencer public inquiry and he is the author of New City: Contemporary Architecture in the City of London.
