On a mission to widen access to culture and the arts, museums and galleries are rewriting the rules to captivate new audiences and engage young children with their collections and buildings. As our understanding of visitor needs evolves, we are discovering the potential of early years engagement to lay the foundations for a lifelong relationship with cultural institutions.
Within this context, Dulwich Picture Gallery is collaborating with Carmody Groarke architects and play specialists Sarah Marsh & Stephanie Jeffries on a new children’s picture gallery within the gallery gardens. The pavilion will provide a dedicated art-based family learning space for creative expression and interactive play.
Join us for a conversation exploring the role of architecture and creative play to reframe cultural collections and inspire the next generation of thinkers and makers.
Panellists include:
Jennifer Scott, Director, Dulwich Picture Gallery
Chiara Barrett, Senior Architect, Carmody Groarke
Sarah Marsh and Stephanie Jefferies, Play Designers
The event forms part of the 'Summer of Play' programme at Dulwich Picture Gallery where Sarah & Stephanie will host a series of creative play workshops for families and children under 8.
