Architects and urban planners tell stories through the medium of the built environment. These spaces in turn, are the settings for placemakers and storytellers. Our workshop is for architects, urban designers, tour guides, community heritage practitioners, exhibition makers, and anyone else who uses the city as a setting for their stories.
You will learn how to:
● understand and decode spatial narratives,
● identify the dominant narrative of a space,
● dismantle the dominant narrative of the space.
This interactive workshop will introduce you to methods of reimagining places by considering its location, materiality, proportions, signs, symbols and decoration. You will learn how to understand and decode spatial narratives and dismantle them through creative intervention. The takeaways from this workshop can be applied to practices that challenge the dominant narrative of the space it occupies. Concessions available. See booking page for details.
