Last year fantastic feedback at our LFA Happening called for transformation of High Road Wide Pavement into a new green Town Square. East Finchley Town Team have now drawn up a scheme. This year, with maker Fruzsi Karig, we are testing one component of this imagined future - a bench that is also a stage - a 'Seatre':
Sit here and chat. Sit here and picnic. Stand and hold meetings. Stand and play music, tell stories, throw shapes and surprises. Dance. Re-imagine: a grove of young trees filtering the air? More of us visiting local shops, browsing stalls; enjoying sun-soaked, rain-baked community celebrations?
An exhibition of the scheme drawings at High Road's Egg & Bake café will show throughout June. People can write and draw their responses, online, or cross the street and post them at the ‘Seatre’.
Throughout the month there will be whole host of activities for you to get involved with including:
1st June - Activities for Under-5s including story-telling and puppets
4th June - Air Quality Monitoring with East Finchley Community Trust. Devices provided. Meet at Stagesettee. To attend contact Roger Chapman/ Kate Brown in advance eftownteam@gmail.com
