GLAM coming to the LSA

15 June 2024

13:00 -16:00

GLAM Goes Global has started a new dialog across the world, with people from all different backgrounds to communicate interests in Architecture and Fashion. How might fashion influence architecture and vice versa? How can we exchange design principles between Architecture, Fashion and Sustainability?

Popular culture has traditionally been influenced by the designs of iconic brands such as GUCCI and LOUIS VUITTON. These fashion houses have given us the designer shops, designer lifestyle, and must have attitude; but the tongue-in-cheek parodying of counterfeit culture is a trend that has gained popularity in recent years. Fakes have gone from fashion faux pas to must-have. Street culture is influencing the catwalk and vice versa, the lines of brand-consumer dynamics are being blurred.

The purpose of the Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Architecture & Me workshop is to question the relationship between power & space through interdisciplinary design practice. Participants will take part in a live, design-through-making workshop in which they will develop the tools, language and critical thinking required to create wearable architectures.
