The business of architecture is changing rapidly, with artificial intelligence poised to transform the future of practice. With so many architects taking steps to harness its capacity for the purposes of creativity, the future of the profession, our cities, and our wellbeing, could be transformed for the better.
The RIBA’s recent report on AI in architecture indicates that adoption of AI is on the increase, 41% of UK practices currently use AI and that is expected to rise to 54% over the next two years. Whilst it is recognised as a positive development, it does open up questions of authorship, the nature of architectural education, its role in the planning process, and professional regulation. With the transformation well underway, we invite dialogue about its future and how it is changing the business of architecture.
How can the industry use the power of technology to unlock productivity and innovation and build more resilient, inclusive, safer and exciting places? How can architects, designers and planners implement AI while remaining responsible, ethical and human centred? Ultimately, how can AI elevate the practice or architecture and design?
