Palace, people, place

23 June 2024

11:00 -13:30

Join artist Carlos Cortes in Crystal Palace Park for a short walk to explore how symbolism was used in art to represent people, and nations on the Upper Terrace in Crystal Palace. Original public artworks by some of the most reputable sculptors of the 1850s once stood looking out across the park, but who or what did they represent?

Carlos will reveal the statues that once stood in the park then lead the group to The Paxton Centre for refreshments and a fun practical session to reimagine how we can use symbolism in art today.

Experiment with art materials in a supportive session where you will be able to try different techniques and explore ideas. All ages welcome, no experience required, materials provided.
