Radical reuse on campus: a forward-thinking approach to university architecture and development

26 June 2024

18:00 -21:00

In response to this year’s LFA’s theme ‘Reimagine’ David Chipperfield Architects will host a public panel discussion on adaptive reuse focusing on the Firoz Lalji Global Hub as an example. The project forms the final set-piece addition to the historic campus of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Critically, the project’s design embraces a radical strategy of reuse that will see large parts of an existing academic building retained, aiding the ambition to become the LSE's first net zero carbon building. Through the intelligent reinterpretation of the existing building, the new project will become a symbol of the LSE's environmental and social responsibility.

Participants of the roundtable discussion include Julian Robinson, Director of Estates – LSE, members of project’s architecture team Maria-Chiara Piccinelli, Laura Burley and Alasdair Graham - David Chipperfield Architects, and others to be confirmed.
