There is a subversive power in re-imagining spaces and making new from old.
In Piercy&Company's refurbishment of Exchange House, the innovative structure itself has been expressed in the project's design, spatial reorganisation and artist collaborations. The project has allowed both architect and client to re-imagine notions of temporality and transformation in the process. Indeed, the original ideas and vision behind the iconic building, part of the 1980s Broadgate development, led the designers to take an ambitious approach to reinstate its character and soul.
Hosted within Exchange House and including a tour of key areas of the building, Hannah Wilson from Piercy&Company, tapestry artist Kangan Arora and project lead from British Land will share their individual approaches and inspirations, and how they came together to first uncover and then spotlight layers of history, engineering ingenuity and structural prowess of Exchange House through textiles, ceramics, furniture and spatial design.
