Inspired by the sense of performance involved in the act of cooking, Titilayo's window installation celebrates the intangible beauty created at home.
Tilayo's piece plays with the form that steam takes as it diffuses. In a nod to Gaggenau ventilation systems and timeless design, the dance of steam is physically embodied in recyclable aluminium.
You're invited to experience this installation and the patterns it casts as light passes through the showroom windows.
Why not head downstairs to see an additional installation by Tilayo, Digital Artisans?
The installation is inspired by the balance between the use of technology and artisanal input found in Gaggenau products. Aesthetically inspired by the trees surrounding Black forest, the grain from the oak wood was chosen to reflect the longevity of the brand, being the oldest luxury appliance brand in the world. Part of the profile of Black forest is illustrated in this piece. Lace like structures are created, projecting patterns into the surrounding area. The design process and material choice were informed by the minimal production waste in Gaggenau products. Mount board is recyclable and biodegradable. A reference to the iconic blue oven interiors can be seen in the colour choice.
Tilayo is a multi disciplinary design studio, founded by Titilayo Abiola. With story telling and skill exchange at its heart, Abiola has carried out extensive training. From Interior architecture at Parsons, New York, to textile design at Central Saint Martin’s, dexterity forms a rich language to translate her designs. Running for 10+ years, Titilayo's creative workshops explore how design allows us to interact more positively with the world and each other. Abiola's work has featured on platforms and exhibitions nationally and internationally, notably on CNN vision and at the Wallace collection, London.
