Showcase your public realm project, whether it’s completed, planned, or underway. Share your knowledge and best practice amongst across the built environment community as well as with the wider public.

As we look ahead to celebrating 20 years of the London Festival of Architecture in June 2024, we are calling for London’s boroughs, BIDs, architects, and our community of LFA event organisers to reimagine public spaces and put people back at the heart of the city.

Throughout June, engaging activations and provocations will rethink our spaces and how they are used, from closing streets, hosting street parties, delivering workshops, performances and many more creative solutions; we want public spaces across London to be temporarily reimagined to capture the public’s imagination and inform long term meaningful changes.

The 20th anniversary of the Festival will be a chance to reflect on its impact over last two decades, as well as changes across the wider industry and city. It will also be a moment to reset and explore how the festival, industry, and all Londoners can shape a more equitable, accessible and sustainable London – a London by, and for, all Londoners.

We want to see how public spaces can be reimagined, from rethinking high streets to innovative kerbside strategies and use of road closures, how can our public realm be more equitable and sustainable?

While our Call for Events  will open in January, we want to hear from you now if you are already doing great work in this area or if you have ideas for how the Festival can activate a space near you in June.

  • Do you have existing projects where you’re transforming spaces?
  • What opportunities are there in your local area to reimagine underutilised spaces?
  • How do we collectively create spaces which are better for people and planet?
  • What can we do to shape a more equitable, accessible and sustainable city?
  • Do you know what communities want/need from their local spaces?
